Who qualifies for a Medical Marijuana Card?
Those with debilitating illnesses or suffering from chronic conditions are eligible for medical cannabis in Florida. You must visit with our physician in person so they can examine you to determine if you qualify for this card. Once our doctor determines you are eligible for a card, our staff will help you fill out the appropriate paperwork to be submitted to the Department of Health. Once approved, you will then be able to access the state’s system of dispensaries. This certification must be recertified every 210 days, which is just over six months.
Can I pick what type of Medical Marijuana to apply for?
Currently, you can either receive Medical Cannabis or Low-THC Cannabis. Our doctor must determine which is best for your condition. Our provider will not prescribe anything that they do not think will help with your current condition or illness.
What are some chronic illnesses or conditions that qualify for a Medical Marijuana Card?
Medical marijuana has shown to be very helpful in alleviating symptoms associated with many chronic illnesses or conditions. In Florida, these often include:
- ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease
- Cyclical Vomiting Syndrome
- Hepatitis C
- HIV / Aids
- Any terminal condition
- Back Pain
- Cachexia (wasting away)
- Lyme Disease
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Muscle Spasm
- Muscular Dystrophy
- Parkinson’s Disease
- Chronic Spasms
- Crohn’s Disease
- Severe and Chronic Pai
- Severe Nausea

What if my condition is not on the list above? Does that mean I don’t qualify for a Medical Marijuana Card?
Not exactly! If you do not see your condition, you may still qualify for one of the “other debilitating conditions of like, kind, or class to be determined.” The only way to know for sure is to visit our clinic for an evaluation.
What should I bring with me to Dr. G’s Urgent Care for my Medical Marijuana Card appointment?
To assist our doctors in determining if your condition qualifies for a Medical Marijuana Card, please bring with you any medical records associated with your condition or illness. All documents, including lab work and notes from other doctors, will be helpful in not only with our doctor’s determination but also in filling out the paperwork to get your approval. If you are having records sent electronically to our clinic, please call our offices and speak with our front desk, so we aren’t surprised by the arrival of medical records. Letting us know will allow us to prepare them for the doctor’s review.
