Pediatric Services Florida

Pediatric services are designed to help your little ones cope with everyday scrapes and sickness. We understand that your first instinct is to call 911 and rush to the emergency room whenever your child is less than 100% happy and healthy, but those ER bills can really add up. If the situation is not life-threatening, you may want to consider urgent care services instead of an emergency room visit. Save that ER money for toys and tuition!

To consult with the most caring, compassionate pediatric practitioners in South Florida, contact us online or call (561) 330-9363. We are open 12 hours per day, seven days a week, and we’re eager to turn those “ouchies” into “YAYs!”

Vaccines

Pediatric Vaccines Florida

Every child is adorably different. We don’t dress them all the same, or speak to them in the same tone of voice, so we shouldn’t administer the same medical treatments to every kid. Vaccines are an essential component of keeping kids protected from disease. But not every child requires the same vaccinations, and those needs evolve as kids grow into their teen years and beyond.

Here at Dr. G’s Urgent Care, we tailor your child’s vaccination strategy to their lifestyle and medical history. Some kids need the standard measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) shot while others require hepatitis, diphtheria, and similar follow-up considerations.

Dr. Mylissa Graber adheres to the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) when making her recommendations about vaccines.[1] You can make sure your kids have all of the shots they need to start the school year, attend summer camp, or any of the other wonderful experiences they will enjoy in their young lives.

We are proud to offer free vaccinations for children under the age of 18 who are uninsured or on Medicaid. It’s part of the Vaccines for Children program (VFC) and it costs your family nothing to prevent a potentially expensive and dangerous illness further down the road of life.[2]

Minor Injuries

Pediatric Services Florida

Accidents will happen, but you don’t want them to happen to your precious family. No matter how many helmets and pads you pile on your kids, you can’t bubble wrap them completely. Minor injuries occur, and minor patients may be too embarrassed or non-verbal to tell you where it hurts.

Dr. G’s Urgent Care employs some of the most perceptive pediatricians in South Florida. We can’t exactly read minds, but we can often tell what your child is thinking. If your little one got into a scrape, we know what they’re thinking: it is the worst thing that ever happened ever! But as adults, we must keep calm and care-on. We can assess non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses, provide the proper remedies, and help reduce your child’s distress. After all, it takes a village to raise a kid, and we are firmly committed to being part of your proverbial village.

Cold and Flu

Kids Cold Flu Treatment Florida

Kids get the sniffles on a regular basis, but when their cold and flu symptoms persist, you may want to consult with a medical professional. If your child has severe or extended symptoms, please consider bringing them to Dr. G’s Urgent Care. Worrisome scenarios include a fever of over 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit and aches that persist for a week or more without abating.

Some bouts of the flu can leave your child dehydrated. Dr. G’s Urgent Care can work to replenish their fluids to ensure proper hydration. Also: we promote prevention here at Dr. G’s. Ask about our flu shots for kids and consider one for yourself, mom and/or dad!

Call (561) 330-9363, tell us about your child’s cold and/or flu symptoms, and let us do the rest.

Allergies

Pediatric Services Florida

Variety is the spice of life, but some kids really can’t handle certain novel foods. We are all fairly conscientious when it comes to peanut allergies, but there may be other threats lingering in the culinary ether that catch us off guard. For example, shellfish can prompt allergic reactions in children, and the symptoms can be scary. Please don’t panic, but please do call 911 if it presents a life-threatening emergency.

Many allergic reactions are less traumatic, and we are glad to treat them here at our South Florida clinic. Bee stings, for example, may look icky, but our tender, loving caregivers will mend that situation and get your child back in play-mode in no time!

Ear Infections

Child Ear Infection Treatment Florida

Listen up! Not all ear infections are created equal. Middle ear distress is often caused by external stimuli such as swimming pool water or other irritants. Dr. G’s Urgent Care often treats this type of ear infection with antibiotics.

However, other ear infections are trickier to diagnose. If your child has recently suffered from a viral infection, antibiotics may not be the remedy for your situation. Be ready to share your medical records so that we can strategize the best treatment for your kid’s case.

Foreign Objects

Let’s face it: kids can be mischievous. They are always putting weird things where they don’t belong and sometimes, it can become a medical crisis. If your child swallows a foreign object, the panic can be unimaginable. Call 911 immediately if their breathing passageway is blocked.

On the other hand, if the accidental ingestion incident is not life-threatening, you can bring your hungry li’l hippo to Dr. G’s Urgent Care to assess the danger and recommend a course of action.

Foreign objects are not just a swallowing hazard; kids might puncture their skin while playing and lodge a strange particle in a dangerous place on their person. Please do not try to dislodge the item. Instead, let our experienced medical staff safely deal with the foreign object and patch up the wounds your child has incurred.

Strep Throat

Strep Throat Treatment Florida

Another fringe benefit of your kids’ appetite for weird stuff is the possibility of bacterial infection. If they share cups or toys with other children, they will also be sharing bacteria. Strep throat is a bacterial infection characterized by red, swollen tonsils or puffy lymph nodes. You may notice white blotches on the back of the throat and a miserable look in your kid’s eyes.

Fear not, our pediatricians can help!

Pink Eye (Conjunctivitis)

pink eye florida

Pink eye is a perfect storm of a condition because it can be caused by a viral infection, an allergic reaction, or irritation from external stimuli. If you notice your child rubbing their red, watery eyes, consider a trip to one of our South Florida locations. Many instances of conjunctivitis (pink eye) clear up on their own, but we can advise you on how to speed up the recovery process. Our pediatricians may also prescribe eye drops to treat cases of bacterial conjunctivitis.
